Water Heater Richardson TX
Part 1
Attach a pipe to the drain valve
1- If you have an electric water heater, turn off the gas.
2- If you have a gas water heater, turn the pilot light switch to "Pilot."
3- Turn off at the top of the water heater the water supply valve.
4- Attach a garden hose at the bottom of the tank to the drain valve.
5- Place outside the other end of the hose below the drain level.
Part 2
The drain valve is closed
1- Turn the knob to open the drain valve.
2- To open it, pull up the pressure relief valve at the top of the tank.
3- Allow the entire water to drain.
4- For 5 minutes, open the water valve to flush out the water heater.
Part 3
Replace the water heater
1- Open the intake valve and the exhaust valve.
2- Disconnect from the drain valve the garden hose.
3- Flip the disconnector to turn back on the power.
4- If it is a gas water heater, turn the pilot light to the "Off" position.
